INSPIRATION:
A deck of cards is just a deck of cards, unless it tells a story. The story our Nickel Bar deck tells is that of Camp Wandawega, of heritage, of dedication, & ultimately of friendship. Each one unique, these cards paint a picture of both our separate & shared histories with Camp Wandawega. The vignette aces decorated to depict iconic scenes you’ll find at Camp. The face cards, each capturing an iconic character from its past & present that have left their mark on its rich history. The joker, our fearless leader, sat upon the pit-bike steed that has been a hallmark of our recent partnership. All of it, every detail, created & masterfully hand-illustrated by Solemn Oath’s ace Erik Lundquist.
CRAFTSMANSHIP:
Leaving it at that could have been enough & might have been, were we not so moved to create beauty & quality by our dear friends. Enter the limited edition, completely custom designed & handcrafted leather gaming cases to accompany our cards. As students of history & disciples of craftsmanship, we had long admired Chicago’s storied Horween® Leather. In operation for over a century, their commitment to producing the finest quality leather to the world embodies the very essence of Chicago’s industrious spirit. It had to be Horween, & thus it also had to be Ashland Leather. Founded by long-time tannery workers, Ashland Leather has been producing some of the world’s finest handmade leather goods since 2011 right here Chicago. Using Horween’s full grain Dublin Leather, the team at Ashland custom designed & handcrafted a leather playing card case & a leather dice case to beautifully enhance the first official release from the Solemn Oath Sporting Co.
Being thoughtful is a soul-enriching endeavor. Together we proudly present a Solemn Oath Sporting Co. collection of hand crafted works from Solemn Oath Brewery, Camp Wandawega, Horween Leather, and Ashland Leather.
A completely customized and hand-illustrated deck of playing cards leads the way, honoring both our separate and shared histories with Camp Wandawega. A colorful cast of Camp characters adorn the face cards and combine with iconic Camp vignettes, a joker of jokers and Solemn Oath’s fearless leader, and an iconic and ornate Ace of Spades reigning supreme above all. This deck is the embodiment of our shared stories and ultimately our friendship.
